Bring the Noise!

We've spent a nice couple of weeks, just bumbling about, and doing nothing much. Sheena's gone down to Devon to look after her mum again, so it's just me and beastie manning the boat. We've had a few sunny spells, which has given me the perfect opportunity to play with a power tool.

There were some rust spots on the roof that needed tackling. Wore out three grinding brushes removing the last couple of meters of concreted budgie sand, that I didn't have time to remove before. Fixed a bodge I discovered lurking underneath it all. And slapped Vactan (anti-rust) everywhere. Forecast is for rain, tomorrow. So I'll let that wash the dust & grit off the boat, hopefully finishing it off on Thursday.

Sumo scuffed up the bed in protest.

We're all nice and warm inside though. Feels milder this year, because there isn't the biting icy wind to accompany the low temperatures. But we're bored with it. One consolation, is that the fields aren't all quaggy, so we can go out and come back without getting caked in mud. Which is a bonus.

More Black & White

Maybe not the most innovative effect in the toolbox, but I like the way it can turn even a mediocre photograph into something that looks visually pleasing... It's Free, too...

Enjoyed a really nice birthday yesterday. Thanks Everyone!

A pleasant surprise to discover that I was only 48, and not 49. Maths was never my strong point. Our good friend Jorma popped up for a visit from Devon, and all of the marina guys had signed a birthday card for me. Also, the landlord of the Bounty pub wouldn't let me buy a round all evening. Wehey!

Dropped to -10 overnight. Probably Scotland and the north got it worse than us, but it was still quite chilly.

Frozen Solid
Tried to go for a jolly down to Cliveden woods today, but the Cookham lock cut was frozen solid with an inch of ice. Did a bit of icebreaking, before deciding that it probably wasn't very good for our blacking & hull. Reversed out, and headed back for Bourne End.
