I am 50

Sorry I haven't updated for a while. As you've probably guessed, we got flooded in again. Our small inconvenience at having to plank it to shore, is nothing compared to what half of the country is currently going through. Even if it stopped raining tomorrow (unlikely), it will take a month for the flood water to go down, and for the river to return to being safely navigable.

So we've just been getting on with it. Glad that we've got a 'River only' licence this year. And counting our blessings that our home floats, because local residents are standing by with their sandbags.

On the plus side, Sheena is here with me, and enjoying a "nice sit down". We still have some unchopped logs, and enough bags of coal to see us through.

Oh, and I'm now 50. :)

  1. Well a very happy birthday to you Ken!

I was thinking of you today and wondering how you were getting on with the Thames so angry.

Glad to see all is well and that you are both together for a while. Love the planks for getting ashore.

    Keep safe you both

  2. Congratulations on joining us in the over 50 + zone. The Thames looks awesome when its in flood, apart from where it affects lives and property of course.

    Cheers and beers

  4. Happy birthday Ken! I think 50 is a great age. It marks the beginning of the second half of life when we re wise enough to know better and still young enough to enjoy it anyway! We are pleased and relieved to find you and NB Dogma are dry and safe.

  5. Thanks for the best wishes. I was fine leading up to the day. Happy and content with where i am in life. But when it arrived, it came with a big black cloud. Time to admit that I am no longer a young man. I read a Maffi post a while back, where he looked in the mirror and thought "who is that old git?". Still, there is much to be thankful for, and my normal sunny disposition will hopefully be restored soon. Cheers everyone. Stay dry!
