Field Fungus

It's rained very heavily over the last couple of days, and the cow fields by the river have sprouted many different types of mushrooms and fungi.

  1. the joys of Fungi.

I've had a great bounty this year. Mostly woodland fungi rather than pasture / field

  2. Can you recommend us a good reference book, Graham? or 'the' definitive website for identification? There were a bazillion different types of fungus in the woods today, and we'd like to know more about them.

  4. Ken I'd recommend Roger Philips Book Mushrooms, it's a huge reference book and has a lot of the fungi that can be found in the UK. :)

  5. Cheers Graham. It gets some very positive reviews on amazon. I've been reading that
Roger's the best photographer, because he removes them away to his studio, and lights
them properly. Rather than photographing them in situ. Might be a bit big to be a field guide, but it's definitely one for the boat. ta..

  6. Ken, there is a field guide version he has done also - which is quite good. But obviously as it's a field guide it only covers a fraction of the ones in the big book!

I'd also recommend Roger Philips Wild Food book
